Frequently asked questions about the safe use of your massage chair

Is a massage chair good for my health?
Regular use of a massage chair can help reduce muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and lower stress. It is not a medical device, but a wellness product that offers daily relaxation.
Can I use a massage chair if I have a pacemaker?
No, we advise people with pacemakers or other implanted electrical devices not to use a massage chair. The electrical and magnetic components in the chair can interfere with these devices. Always consult your cardiologist first.
Can I use the massage chair if I am on blood thinners?
People using blood thinners or suffering from blood clotting disorders should be careful with intensive massage. Consult your general practitioner or specialist before using the chair.
Is the massage chair suitable for people with osteoporosis?
In cases of severe osteoporosis, we advise against using a massage chair without consulting a doctor. The pressure from the rollers can pose risks for very brittle bones. In cases of mild osteoporosis, you can try the chair at the lowest intensity after your doctor's approval.
Can I use the massage chair during my pregnancy?
We advise pregnant women not to use the massage chair, especially not in the first trimester. Always consult your midwife or gynecologist before using the chair during pregnancy.
Can I use the massage chair if I have or have had cancer?
With an active cancer diagnosis, we do not recommend using a massage chair without explicit permission from your oncologist. After recovery and with your doctor's approval, use may be safe in many cases.
Is the massage chair safe for high blood pressure?
Massage can temporarily affect blood pressure. Do you have uncontrolled high blood pressure? Consult your general practitioner first. For stable, well-controlled blood pressure, using a massage chair is safe for most people.
Can I use the massage chair after surgery?
Immediately after surgery, it is not advisable to use a massage chair. Wait until your wounds have fully healed and consult your doctor about when massage is safe again. This varies depending on the type of surgery and recovery.
Is the massage chair suitable for seniors?
Yes, massage chairs are very suitable for seniors. However, start with the lowest intensity setting and build it up gradually. We advise seniors with specific conditions such as osteoporosis or cardiovascular diseases to consult their general practitioner first.
Can I use the massage chair if I have diabetes?
Caution is advised for diabetes type 1 or 2, especially with numbness in the legs or feet (diabetic neuropathy). You may not feel well whether the massage is too intense. Consult your doctor before using the chair.
What should I do if I feel pain during the massage?
Stop the massage immediately if you experience pain. Reduce the intensity or choose a different massage mode. A slight sensitivity after the first sessions is normal, but sharp or persistent pain is not. If in doubt, contact us via info@thuiswellness.nl or 06-18150494.
Can I use the massage chair if I have varicose veins?
For mild varicose veins, using the massage chair is usually safe, but direct massage on the affected areas is not recommended. Do you have severe varicose veins or thrombosis? Consult your general practitioner first.
Is it safe to fall asleep in the massage chair?
The chair automatically switches off after the set time, so this is not an immediate danger. However, we advise against habitually sleeping in the chair — a massage chair is not designed as a sleeping chair, and prolonged use in an unnatural position can cause fatigue or muscle pain.
Can I use the massage chair if I have a hernia?
In case of a hernia, we always advise you to consult your general practitioner or physiotherapist first. In some cases, massage can provide relief, but for an acute hernia, rest and medical advice are priorities.
Are there people who should absolutely not use the massage chair?
We advise against use for: pregnant women (without doctor's consultation), people with pacemakers, people with acute inflammation or infections, people with deep vein thrombosis, children under 12 years old, and people with severe skin conditions in the areas to be massaged. In doubt? Always consult your general practitioner.
